Approaches
How we work
These are the approaches our therapists draw on. None of us works from a single method — your therapist will talk with you about what seems likely to fit, and change course if it doesn't.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
An attachment-based approach that looks past the content of a conflict to the needs and fears driving it. The approach our whole team leans on most.
Brainspotting & EMDR
Techniques for processing trauma and unresolved memories — whether to resolve a painful memory, address chronic pain, or work through a specific event.
Somatic Experiencing
Work with the nervous system rather than around it — building an understanding of your own trauma physiology.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Builds the capacity to carry difficult thoughts and feelings without being run by them, and to act on what genuinely matters to you.
Narrative Therapy
Separates you from the difficulty you are carrying, then looks for the parts of your story it has been leaving out.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
A structured approach to the loop between thoughts, feelings and behaviour — well researched, practical, and usually involving work between sessions.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Skills-based work on intense emotions, distress tolerance and relationships, holding acceptance and change together rather than choosing between them.
Attachment-Based Therapy
Works with the patterns formed in early relationships and how they show up in closeness, trust and parenting now. Includes adoption-competent care.
Solution-Focused Therapy
Brief and forward-looking. Builds on what is already working rather than excavating how the problem developed.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
Combines mindfulness practice with cognitive therapy. Built to interrupt the spirals that pull a low mood further down.
Who uses what
Matching an approach to a therapist
If a particular approach matters to you, this is who works with it. If you're not sure, that's the normal starting point — say what's going on and we'll suggest a fit.
Not sure which fits?
That's what the free 15-minute consultation is for. Describe what's going on and we'll tell you honestly who on the team is the better match.
